FRED BOSWELL JR.

Fred Boswell Jr. has been immersed in music from a young age, first stepping behind a drum kit at just seven years old to play for his childhood church. Throughout four years of high school, Fred honed his jazz skills and, in 2005, traveled with his school’s jazz band to perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Tuscany Jazz Fest, and Perugia Jazz Festival—a defining moment that solidified his desire to pursue music professionally.

In 2013, Fred released his first documentary, “Boswell & Figg,” now available on YouTube. Over the years, he has performed alongside notable gospel artists such as Deitrick Haddon, Isaac Carree, and Zacardi Cortez. After relocating to Arizona in 2016, Fred entered Guitar Center’s Drum-Off Competition, placing in the top five drummers in the nation. His reputation continued to grow, leading to a call to play for Wyclef in 2018–2019, as well as a two-year run with John Sykes from the classic rock band Whitesnake—an experience he cherishes following John’s passing in December 2024.

Today, Fred’s dynamic drumming style and deep-rooted passion for music keep him at the forefront of modern percussion, honoring his gospel beginnings while embracing the evolution of contemporary music.
